Crucible is one of the largest sculpture shows for a long time and held in the stunning setting of Gloucester Cathedral. Seventy sculptures have been placed inside the building, including the crypt and cloisters and outside in the grounds. Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, Lynn Chadwick, Antony Gormley and Damien Hirst are some of the most well known contributors. Some pieces have been sourced from private collections or specially loaned and several have been made especially for the exhibition. Many have never been seen in public before.
Gallery Pangolin are partners with the Cathedral in staging the exhibition. Pangolin Editions have a long and very established history of working with artists to produce sculptures in a variety of materials and have a unique place in supporting artists by producing highly trained and skilled artisans.
I made the journey to this exhibition, and it is really special – worth every mile! The venue is awe inspiring and a big place to fill – it is beautifully curated and the scupture breathtaking, luminous and amplified by the surroundings. I found it difficult to leave!
They have extended this magnificent exhibition until the 7th of November – It’s a brilliant addition to this up and coming area.
