It is not often that we BLOG about something in the shop, but these are an exception. Wensleydale Sheep are crossed with Leicester Long Wools by this farmer to provide good meat and soft long stable fibres that weave into very soft blankets. Add to this the fact that the sheep are “grown” organically on a farm accredited by the Soil Association and you have something really special. The blankets are large – very large (270cm x 240cm approx.) and have an impressive weight to them – not being overly carded or fluffed up their weight comes as a bit of a surprise. The weaving and finishing are all supervised by the farmer, who has chosen a lovely traditional satin trim and labelling to compliment the natural wool colours (cream or brown).  Really great for anyone sensitive to additives, dyes and finishing agents.
